Redskins RB Jones questionable for Packers game
ASHBURN, Va. -- Running back Matt Jones was one of four Washington players listed as questionable for the Redskins' wild-card game Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, and coach Jay Gruden sounded pessimistic about the rookie's availability.
Safety Dashon Goldson, cornerback Quinton Dunbar and linebacker Perry Riley Jr. were also listed as questionable by Gruden on Friday.
Jones hurt his left hip late in the season and sat out the last two games for NFC East champion Washington (9-7). Gruden said he wouldn't rule out Jones against Green Bay, but added that he was "not very encouraged" and the running back "didn't do much today."
Gruden said earlier in the week he expected to choose between Jones and Chris Thompson (injured toe) as a backup to Alfred Morris; Thompson said Friday he was told he'll play Sunday.
Goldson has a rib injury, Dunbar is dealing with a leg muscle problem and Riley has been out with a broken foot.
Redskins center Kory Lichtensteiger, who just came off injured reserve, will return to the starting lineup, with Josh LeRibeus going back to a reserve role.
