A harness racing accident at Buffalo Raceway during Friday night's third race injured four drivers, two of whom were taken to a local hospital, according to The Buffalo News.
The track's general manager Jim Mango confirmed to the Buffalo News that a horse named My American Tallia, driven by Andy McCarty, broke stride and caused an accident that sent drivers flying and horses landing awkwardly on the track.
Drivers Ray Fisher Jr. (All About Boyz) and Jack Flanigen (Jaded Dream) were transported by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center with apparent neck and back injuries. Drivers McCarthy and Jim Whittemore (Sweetnsinful) were treated at the scene.
“It’s a dangerous game and things happen,” Mango told The Buffalo News. “These were very young horses. Young horses break stride,” he said. “We’ve had accidents before; this was a bad one. We hope the drivers are OK.”
