Royals option Tim Hill to Storm Chasers

With starter Danny Duffy scheduled to come off the injured list and make his 2019 season debut on Friday night against the Angels, the Kansas City Royals were going to need to clear a roster spot at some point within the next few days. They chose to take care of that task immediately following Wednesday's win over the Rays, optioning left-handed reliever Tim Hill to the Triple-A Omaha Storm Chasers.

This is the second time that the 29-year-old Hill has been optioned this season. His most recent major league stint lasted just three games, as he joined the Royals prior to Monday's series opener in Tampa. Hill made just one appearance during this stint, allowing one hit, one walk and one run -- which came on a solo homer -- with three strikeouts over two innings of relief.

Hill now has a 6.75 ERA with three strikeouts and four walks over six appearances (four innings) this season. In five games for the Storm Chasers, he has a 3.60 ERA with five strikeouts and two walks over five innings.
