San Diego Buzz: A month away from Opening Day
SAN DIEGO -- With the start of the 2016 regular season looming around the corner, the Padres look to continue developing a competitive team when they host the defending World Series champion Royals Friday afternoon. Newcomer Alexei Ramirez has made a splash in the Padres first two games with great defensive play and a hot bat. Left handed pitcher Drew Pomeranz also had an impressive start and looks to compete for a rotation spot this spring. Future Padres star outfielders Hunter Renfroe and Manuel Margot showed impressive plate appearances as each smacked a double in the seventh inning.
Renfroe and Margot are two of the young future stars the Padres have in their farm system. While these two outfielders have a chance to make the Opening Day roster, perhaps the brightest stars will be shining in the minors this year. The Padres replenished their farm system with young athletic talent and the Madfriars are here to tell you all about it.

There is promise for the future in the Padres farm system. With a blend of young upstart talent and proven veterans Kemp, Myers, Norris and Shields, the Padres could be piecing together a consistently competitive franchise.
Shortstop Javier Guerra
While shortstop Javier Guerra may stun us with his talent in the distant future, let's focus on the now. Only 31 more days until we are back at Petco Park hosting the Dodgers, Padres fans. The best time of the year is almost here.

It's good!! Watch UCSD's Drew Dyer drain a game-tying three-pointer with 1.9 seconds left.

Perhaps one of the most talented high school baseball players ever, former Padres 2004 first overall pick and Mission Bay High School graduate, Matt Bush, is back in baseball yet again after serving time and dealing with alochol issues.
We've released four players, including Donald Butler and Donald Brown.

Donald Butler release not a surprise given his contract (especially since he was yanked from starting lineup, too) https://t.co/PeVzaMFdJu
