Santana, Napoli become first Indians pair with over 30 home runs since 2002

Published Nov. 15, 2016 1:41 p.m. ET

All season long, Mike Napoli and Carlos Santana have been in a battle to out-do each other.

But Thursday afternoon, they accomplished something together that no Indians duo has done in 14 years.

Not since the one-two punch of Jim Thome and Ellis Burks in 2002 have a pair of Tribe sluggers had 30 or more home runs each in a season.

But in the fifth inning of the series finale against Houston, Santana changed that with a towering shot to deep right field off of reliever Michael Feliz to give him 30 for the first time in his career.

This week, Napoli belted his 30th and 31st long balls, a career high for him as well.
