Schwartz connection? Blues return Ty Rattie to AHL

ST. LOUIS -- Might forward Jaden Schwartz be closer to a return than perhaps we thought?

The St. Louis Blues assigned forward Ty Rattie to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League on Wednesday. One couldn't be faulted for surmising the move opens a roster spot for Schwartz, who has missed most of the season with a broken ankle but has recently been skating with the team.

Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said Schwartz looked good in the team's practice Wednesday at Scottrade Center, as Chris Pinkert reported on the Blues' website. Schwartz has been ruled out for Thursday's home game against the Sharks, but the coach did not speculate on a return date.

"He looked really competitive today," Hitchcock said. "He looked like he was up to speed with a lot of things."

Rattie, 22, has performed well in 11 games with the Blues this season, posting five points (three goals, two assists). He scored all three of his goals in his last six games. The 6-foot, 189-pounder has 25 points (nine goals, 16 assists) in 32 games with the Wolves.
