Score six and the Royals are golden
It makes sense that when you score six runs, you'll win most of the time. And in the case of the Kansas City Royals, whose solid starting pitching is supported by baseball's best bullpen, it should be almost automatic.
Well, for the last year, it has been.
Coming off an 8-2 win over the Mariners, the Royals have not lost a single game over the last year when scoring at least six runs. They're 58-0, giving them the best record in the majors in that category. The Mariners (35-1) are close, followed by the Mets (39-2), Cardinals (39-2) and Pirates (44-3).
• The Royals play in Oakland this weekend, continuing a swing through the American League West division that includes Seattle (where the Royals won two of three), Oakland and then Houston. The Royals have had a lot of success against the AL West over the last couple of seasons.
AL TEAMS WITH BEST RECORDS VERSUS AL WEST (since 2014)

Baltimore Orioles | 27-19 | .587 |
Kansas City Royals | 28-20 | .583 |

• When the season began, many eyes rolled when Royals manager Ned Yost inserted third baseman Mike Moustakas -- a .212 hitter in 2014 -- in the No. 2 spot in the lineup. Safe to say, it's worked out well. Moustakas has 83 hits as the No. 2 hitter, more than anyone else in the majors. The players closest to Moose out of the two-hole are the Giants' Joe Panik (78), the Tigers' Ian Kinsler (70), the Angels' Mike Trout (66) and the Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson (65).
