Ohtani was batting as the designated hitter and tweaked his ankle stepping on first base while running out an infield dribbler he was eventually thrown out on. He was pinch hit for in the seventh inning.

Earlier in the game Ohtani hit his fourth home run of the season, all of which have come in the seven games he has played at home.

After the game, manager Mike Scioscia said Ohtani was taken out as a precautionary measure, but he will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis. Ohtani is not slated to pitch during this series with the Yankees.
