SLU holds off Chicago State's late push, wins 45-43

ST. LOUIS -- Zeke Moore blocked Trayvon Palmer's 3-point attempt in the closing seconds and Saint Louis held on for a 45-43 win over Chicago State on Sunday.

After taking a 45-39 lead on Elliott Welmer's layup with 4:15 to play, the Billikens missed four shots and had five turnovers. Fred Sims Jr. had a jumper at 3:53 for the Cougars and Palmer made a layup at 38 seconds to make it a one-possession game.

Deionte Simmons made a steal for Chicago State with 10 seconds to play but Moore saved the game.

Mike Crawford had 11 points and Welmer 10 for Saint Louis (3-6), which made 17 of 50 shots, just four of 24 from 3-point range.

Palmer had 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Cougars (3-6), who went five of 20 behind the arc and shot 35 percent overall (18 of 52).

Both teams had 14 turnovers.
