French midfielder Yohan Croizet has signed with Sporting Kansas City as a Designated Player, the team announced Friday.

Croizet, 25, is joining the club in a transfer from Belgian side KV Mechelen. His contract runs through 2020 with an option for 2021. He will occupy an international spot on Sporting KC's roster pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and P1 visa.

A native of Sarrebourg, France, Croizet has scored 31 goals in more than 200 professional appearances across Europe. He joins Sporting KC after playing the last three seasons in the top-flight Belgian First Division A, where he has tallied 12 goals and 11 assists since 2015.

"We are thrilled to complete the signing of Yohan Croizet, a player who embodies many of the qualities we look for at this club," Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes said in a team press release.

"This is a successful team with a great stadium, training center and fans," Croizet said in the release. "It has been my dream to play in MLS, so I am happy to join Sporting KC."
