PHOENIX -- Suns guard Brandon Knight on Sunday missed his second straight game because of a sports hernia and will be shut down for the season.
"I can't live with myself putting our players at risk for further injury just to secure a job," Suns interim head coach Earl Watson said. "Whatever is best for Brandon is best for our entire program."
Knight missed seven weeks earlier this season with the same injury, a type of groin strain. He returned for 10 games last month.
This is the season straight year Knight's season ended prematurely because of injury. It was an ankle injury that cut short last season after the Suns acquired him from Milwaukee at the trade deadline.
Knight signed a five-year, $70 million deal in the offseason.
Forward Jon Leuer (right ankle sprain) also missed his second straight game, a 101-86 loss to the Jazz.
