What a show the 1997 CIF-SS Division V championship must have been on a December night in Fullerton.

When it was all over, Carson Palmer-led Santa Margarita bested DeShaun Foster's Tustin squad 55-42 for the Eagles' second consecutive title.

The teams combined for 1,062 total yards and was highlighted by the future Heisman winning quarterback from USC (five TDs, 413 yards passing) and record-setting running back at UCLA (378 yards rushing, six touchdowns) trading highlights on the field.
