Autograph hounds will be out in full force during Daytona Speedweeks. That got us thinking – who has the best signature in NASCAR? Without question, it’s “The King” Richard Petty.

Petty’s signature is one of the most distinctive in the sport. Shortly after graduating from high school, Petty took a course called “Oriental Penmanship” at King’s Business College in Greensboro, N.C. That’s where he learned to sign his name with a flourish and make it easy for people to recognize.

He’s likely signed more autographs than anyone is NASCAR history. When once asked how many he’d signed in his career, “The King” flashed a big grin and said “How big’s the national debt?”
