Timberwolves' Butler, Towns named NBA All-Star reserves
For the first time since 2004, the Timberwolves will send two players to the NBA All-Star Game as Jimmy Butler and Karl-Anthony Towns were named NBA Western Conference All-Stars.
The duo were chosen by Western Conference coaches as two of seven reserves to play at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 18.
The West coaches also chose Oklahoma City’s Russell Westbrook, Golden State’s Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, San Antonio’s LaMarcus Aldridge and Portland’s Damian Lillard.
This will be Towns’ first NBA All-Star appearance while Butler will make his fourth.
Butler and Towns have led Minnesota to a 31-18 record this season, already matching its win total from 2016-17. The Timberwolves currently sit at No. 3 in the Western Conference.
The pair will go into the pool of players that Stephen Curry and fellow captain LeBron James can draft to comprise the teams for the game. Their rosters will be unveiled Thursday.
