Tommy McNamara made sure the first goal of the MLS season was a belter
MLS entered its third decade of play on Sunday with the kickoff of its 21st season. All 20 teams were in action on what was dubbed #SoccerSunday. But with all the pomp and circumstance, the league needed to deliver, right?
Enter NYCFC's Tommy McNamara, who scored the first goal of the MLS season.
Hot damn.
That's a hell of a way to start a new season and if MLS has more of that coming this year, everything is going to be alright. At the very least, it's going to be plenty fun.
NYCFC probably doesn't care much about that, though. For them it's a goal and nothing more than something that moves them closer to three points. That's especially true to new coach Patrick Vieira, who knows his defense is going to be an adventure so every goal is vital. If they happen to be awesome, like McNamara's, that's just a bonus.
