Travis Kelce's 'Fist of Zeus' ball-punching celebration actually inspired by 'Donkey Kong'

Kelce's "Fist of Zeus" celebration -- named by a Chiefs fan on Twitter in response to the NFL's call to name the play -- came at the end of a 42-yard touchdown pass from Alex Smith:

In an interview with "NFL Total Access" on Thursday, Kelce revealed that the "Fist of Zeus" was inspired by Donkey Kong's giant punch from the Nintendo game "Super Smash Bros".

"I got the actual move from 'Super Mario Smash Bros.,' " Kelce said. "I mean, 'Donkey Kong' was the orignial -- he had the original 'Fist of Zeus.' "

Incidentally, Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan referenced a gorilla this week when discussing the most dominant tight end in the league -- Rob Gronkowski:

"We're not going to ask just one guy to cover him," Ryan said of the Bills' plans to contain Gronk on Sunday. "Like, 'This is your guy.' Shoot, he'd have to look like King Kong to do that. Yeah, we got the Gronk. We're putting Kong on him."

So the common denominator here is gorillas; the best NFL tight ends are basically gorillas.
