Twins look to continue offensive momentum vs. Tigers

The Minnesota Twins enter their series against the Detroit Tigers as arguably the hottest offensive team in baseball over the past month.

The Twins have scored 148 runs in their 24 games since June 18, which is the highest per-game average in baseball over the stretch. Minnesota's .283 team batting average in July is the sixth best in baseball, while the team leads the American League with 19 home runs during the month.

Rookie outfielder Max Kepler has been central to the recent production, hitting six home runs and 19 RBI since July 1. The 23-year-old leads the majors in those categories over the past 17 days, despite hitting just .196 over the stretch.

Kepler has eight home runs and 27 RBI over the past 30 days, leading the Twins in both categories. He ranks first among MLB rookies this season with 34 RBI, is tied for second with 10 doubles and is tied for fourth with 20 runs.

He and Brian Dozier (eight home runs, 22 RBI, .308 batting average over the past 30 days) have led the Twins on their most successful stretch of the season. Minnesota is 8-5 this month and 10-10 over its past 20 games. The offense has been especially potent the past 12 games, averaging 7 runs per contest.

Minnesota will look to continue that offensive momentum during their three-game series in Detroit. The Twins are 0-6 vs. the Tigers this season and have averaged 3.5 runs per game.
