Twins prospect Berrios pitches scoreless inning in MLB Futures Game
Twins top pitching prospect Jose Berrios struggled, but came through with a scoreless inning as Team World's starter in the 17th annual MLB Futures Game on Sunday at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati as part of the 2015 MLB All-Star week. Team World lost 10-1 to Team U.S.
Berrios, 21, is off to a strong start (7-3 with a 3.23 ERA in 14 starts) at Double-A Chattanooga. This is his second straight appearance in the Futures Game after tossing a scoreless inning in his start in last year's contest at Target Field. This year's inning wasn't as crisp as the one he turned in a year ago, though. The Puerto Rico Native struggled with his command, falling behind all three hitters he faced. Berrios picked Tony Kemp off first base to keep his inning scoreless.
Another Twins prospect, Double-A Chattanooga outfielder Max Kepler, had to withdraw just two days before the game because of an injury to his throwing shoulder.
