After appearing in just two games for Minnesota during spring training, Anibal Sanchez was given his unconditional release by the Twins on Sunday.

Sanchez was signed to the 40-man roster on Feb. 20 to a one-year, non-guaranteed contract.

In two appearances this spring, the 34-year-old Sanchez allowed six runs on five hits in four innings.

In 12 seasons with the Marlins and Tigers, Sanchez sports a career 90-94 record and 4.09 ERA. He was looking to come back from a rough past few seasons in Detroit, in which he posted ERAs of 4.99, 5.87 and 6.41 over the last three years.

Minnesota's 40-man roster now stands at 39.
