Twins send Buxton to Triple-A

Published Aug. 8, 2016 12:15 p.m. ET

Byron Buxton is headed back to Rochester.

The Minnesota Twins sent the speedy outfielder to Triple-A on Sunday to make room for Trevor Plouffe, who is set to rejoin the team prior to Monday night's game against the Houston Astros at Target Field.

It's Buxton's second trip to the minors this season, and comes on the heels of a serious slump that saw the former first-round pick's average drop to just .193 on the year.
