USD tops Pacific 54-43

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Vasa Pusica made all eight shots from the field, was 3 for 3 on free throws and scored 19 points to lead San Diego past Pacific 54-43 Thursday night.

Eric Thompson gave Pacific its first lead of the game at 32-30 with 15:27 left. Pusica hit a 3 before Alec Kobre responded to put the Tigers back up by two. But Pacific only shot 3 for 12 the rest of the way and turned the ball over 11 times. The Tigers finished with 23 turnovers.

Kobre led Pacific with 11 points and Ray Bowles and T.J. Wallace each scored nine points.

Despite the win San Diego (8-14, 3-8 West Coast) shot just 1 for 4 from the free-throw line. Pacific outrebounded San Diego 33-22 and collected 11 on the offensive end.

However, Pacific (6-15, 4-7) shot 15 for 39 (38.5 percent) and 8 for 16 from the free-throw line.
