South Florida has named sophomore Mike White as its starting quarterback.
White was competing with junior Steven Bench, a Penn State transfer, freshman Quinton Flowers and walk-on Evan Wilson.
The 6-foot-5, 195-pound White threw for 1,083 yards with three touchdowns and nine interceptions in six games last season. He had an up-and-down season as a true freshman, but had the best debut in school history when he threw for 311 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in a loss at Houston on Oct. 31.
White was a 247Sports three-star quarterback at Fort Lauderdale University School, leading the team to the state Class 3A title as a senior.
