Venable placed on paternity leave, SD native Dickerson recalled

The San Diego Padres announced on Thursday that outfielder Will Venable has been placed on the paternity leave list, making room for Alex Dickerson to be recalled from Triple-A El Paso.

Venable and his wife, Kathryn, are expecting their first child. He is hitting .254 with six home runs in 91 games this season.

Dickerson, who graduated from Poway High School, has been one of the Padres' most consistent players in the organization this season, posting impressive numbers every month, as noted in this MadFriars feature last week. Dickerson's first appearance will be his Major League debut.
