Vikings' Adrian Peterson targeting Dec. 24 for return
Running back Adrian Peterson says he plans to practice this week and is targeting the Minnesota Vikings' Dec. 24 game against the Green Bay Packers for his return to the field.
"I plan on practicing this week to really get my legs under me and get a good feel for where I'm at. This week is gonna be big for me," Peterson said in an interview on Dash Radio with DJ Skee. "My plan and my vision is to be back for the Green Bay game."
Peterson tore the meniscus in his right knee during the Vikings' 17-14 win over the Packers on Sept. 18, and has just 50 rushing yards on 31 carries this season through two games.
The team's ground game has floundered in his absence, and is averaging a league-worst 73.4 rushing yards per game this season.
The Vikings moved to 7-6 after dispatching the Jacksonville Jaguars 25-16, but trail the NFC North-leading Detroit Lions by two games with just three games remaining in the regular season.
