Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week after harassing Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton into his worst game of the season.
Griffen led the Vikings with three sacks, while his hit on Newton in the fourth quarter led to an interception for Tom Johnson that all but iced the game for Minnesota.
The Vikings' defense pummeled the reigning NFL MVP, racking up eight total sacks and three interceptions, while limiting Newton to just 262 passing yards and a rushing touchdown in a 22-10 win for Minnesota.

It's Griffen's second player of the week award, the Vikings' fifth consecutive honor and their 10th overall under head coach Mike Zimmer.
