Vikings' Kalil, Floyd have surgery

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Minnesota Vikings left tackle Matt Kalil has undergone surgery to repair a labrum tear in his right hip.

Kalil was operated on Friday by team physician Dr. Chris Larson, who performed the repair of running back Adrian Peterson's torn meniscus in his right knee the day before. The Vikings called Kalil's procedure successful.

Kalil went on injured reserve after struggling through the first two games, effectively ending his season. His streak of starting all 66 games of his career, plus two in the playoffs, will be over Sunday when the Vikings (2-0) visit Carolina.

The Vikings have sent three starters into surgery this week. Defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd had an arthroscopic procedure to clean up cartilage damage in his right knee done by Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, Florida.
