Vikings Peterson voted Ground Player of Year winner by fans
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson returned to the NFL in 2015 after a one-year absence and rushed for a league-leading 1,485 yards and 11 touchdowns.
On Saturday, he was named FedEx Ground Player of the Year by a fan vote for the fifth time in his nine-year career.
The award came after a season in which Peterson helped the Vikings to an 11-5 record and their first NFC North title since 2009. Peterson also earned FedEx Ground Player of the Week honors twice: Following Minnesota's 30-14 win over the Oakland Raiders in which he rushed for 203 yards on 26 carries and following Minnesota's 20-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons where he rushed for 158 yards on 29 carries and two touchdowns.
The Palestine, Texas, native has won three NFL rushing titles and ranks 17th on the league's all-time rushing list with 11,675 yards. He has been named to six Pro Bowls and has recorded 97 career rushing touchdowns.
