Wales flanker Lydiate out of 6N and season after bicep hurt
CARDIFF, Wales (AP) Wales flanker Dan Lydiate will miss the Six Nations and the rest of the rugby season after agreeing he needed surgery on a bicep injury.
Lydiate was hurt on Dec. 31 playing for Ospreys in the Pro14.
Ospreys medical performance manager Chris Towers said on Tuesday the operation will be this week.
''After speaking to consultants and seeking specialist opinion, the decision has been taken in Dan's best interests to undergo surgery,'' Towers said.
Lydiate, a former British Lion, has been capped 62 times by Wales, which made him captain against Georgia in November.
His absence is a blow for Wales, which is already without fellow injured flanker Sam Warburton for the Six Nations. Plus, No. 8 Taulupe Faletau is recovering from knee trouble and may not be available until the third round.
