WhatIfSports Army-Navy prediction: Midshipmen defeat Black Knights for 14th year in a row

Each Monday, WhatIfSports.com's college football simulation engine generates predictions for every Division I FBS game for the coming week. Our highly sophisticated algorithms simulate every play of every game to produce each team's likelihood to win. Each matchup is simulated 101 times.

Week 14 in Review

After three-straight losing weeks with the Game to Watch, we returned to the winning side. Michigan State was successful over Iowa, like the sims projected (27.8-26.1). As for the other results, the computer correctly predicted eight of the nine Top 25 matches (88.9 percent).

Week 14 Highlight: San Diego State 27 - Air Force 24

The Aztecs were favored by 3.5 points last week, but our computer simulations suggested that was too many points. Our results projected a closer margin of victory, 30.1-28.5 with SDSU winning in 62.4 percent of the contests.

Week 14 Lowlight: Texas 23 - Baylor 17

The sims had Baylor winning 66.3 percent of the time, but that did not come to fruition. Baylor’s Chris Johnson, the third-string QB, suffered an injury in the first quarter and the Bears were forced to turn to Lynx Hawthorne. He threw two picks and Baylor lost by six.

Track our 2015 performance or view our accuracy last season, when we correctly picked the winner in 77.6 percent of all games involving FBS teams.

Army vs. No. 21 Navy

The slate is extremely thin this week, but we press on. Navy has should-be Heisman hopeful, Keenan Reynolds. The senior quarterback set a new career NCAA FBS rushing touchdown record previously held by Montee Ball. Reynolds is now one TD away from tying Adrian Peterson for the Division 1 record (84 TDs). Though Reynolds only recorded one TD in each of the past two games, the Army defense has allowed five rushing TDs in the past two games combined. According to our simulations, Navy will win by an average score of 33.3-23.3.
