Wild release former Gopher Warning, reduce training camp roster to 44

The Minnesota Wild announced a reduction in its training camp roster to 44 players Thursday.

Former Minnesota Golden Gophers forward Sam Warning was released from his amateur tryout contract. Warning tallied 97 points with 40 goals and 57 assists for the Gophers from 2011-15.

Six players were assigned to the Iowa Wild (AHL): left wing Raphael Bussieres, forward Tanner Eberle, defensemen Guillaume Gelinas and Alex Gudbranson, and goaltenders Brody Hoffman and Stephen Michalek.

Minnesota also assigned center Pavel Jenys to Subury (OHL).

Minnesota plays in its third preseason game Thursday night in Columbus against the Blue Jackets.
