Wild sign free-agent forward Cannone to one-year deal

The Minnesota Wild have signed free-agent forward Pat Cannone to a one-year, two-way contract.

The 29-year-old Cannone scored 20 goals and added 32 assists in 73 games with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League last season. He was named the 2016 AHL All-Star Game MVP after scoring three goals to help lead the Central Division to victory.

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound native of Bayport, N.Y., has 80 goals, 123 assists, 147 penalty minutes and a plus-54 rating in 349 career AHL games with Chicago and Binghamton. Cannone played four seasons at Miami University (2007-11) and recorded 133 points in 166 games. He did not miss a game his entire collegiate career and served as co-captain his senior season.
