Wild's Prosser nominated for Masterton Trophy
The Twin Cities chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association has named Minnesota Wild defenseman Nate Prosser its nominee for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy.
Each of the PHWA's 30 chapters names a nominee -- one for each team -- selecting a "the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey."
The Wild announced the nomination in a statement highlighting Prosser's involvement with local charities like Defending the Blue Line, and his commitment to mentoring local children through Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.
Goaltender Devan Dubnyk won the award for the Wild last season after resurrecting his career as a starter, while Josh Harding won in 2013 after continuing his hockey career despite being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
