Young Badgers Tracker: Hornibrook's starting debut

Published Sep. 28, 2016 2:00 p.m. ET

It's time for another edition looking at the playing time and statistics of the younger players on the roster of the Wisconsin Badgers.

So all that worry about giving a redshirt freshman his first start in a hostile environment like East Lansing, Mich., against a top-10 team? Who was worried, right?

Alex Hornibrook played well in his debut start for Wisconsin and showed a lot of poise in the process. Looks like he'll be a regular member featured in the weekly Young Badgers Tracker.

But who else will?

Several freshmen have been getting chances to play -- Anthony Lotti and Zach Baun seem to be the ones most likely to make an impact -- however several, such as wide receivers Quintez Cephus and A.J. Taylor might not be seeing the field (or ball) as much as they did against nonconference teams. Injuries (Eric Burrell, Bradick Shaw) are also a factor.

As expected, no freshmen who had yet to play made their debut against the Spartans, although quarterback Kare Lyles and offensive lineman Tyler Biadasz were on the travel roster.

Here's the complete rundown with season stats now included:
