Notable: The 2015 first-round pick was assigned to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers last week and was installed as the center fielder and leadoff hitter. Last season with the AZL Brewers and Helena he batted 309/424/430 with 25 steals in 55 games.

Notable: Phillips had a good week on May 7, when he slugged three two-run homers. He also had a pair of two-hit games and had 10 RBI on the week, giving him 10 more than anyone else on Biloxi.

Notable: A rough week which started out with an 0 for 4 game with four strikeouts on May 5.
Others: Colorado Springs catcher Manny Pina is batting .371 over the last 10 days and is batting 367/412/595 on the season. That's just not because of playing in Colorado -- Pina is batting 357/413/619 on the road. . . . Taylor Jungmann's first two starts at Colorado Springs did not go well: 8 IP, 14 H, 14 R (13 ER), 10 BB, 8 K. . . . Biloxi 3B Garrett Cooper (3rd round, 2013) leads the team in OPS (.837) with a slash line of 297/404/432. . . . Brandon Woodruff (11th round, 2014) of Brevard County is 3-1 with a 1.66 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 39 K in 38 IP. . . . Wisconsin 3B Jake Gatewood (1st round compensatory, 2014) had a big week, blasting four home runs. He is batting .417 with 5 HR, 8 R and 14 RBI in his last 10 games. . . . RHP Jon Perrin (27th round, 2015), who finally walked a batter, was promoted to Brevard County and RHP Devin Williams to Wisconsin.
A glossary of some of the advanced statistics used:
OPS: On base percentage + slugging percentage
OPS+: OPS compared to league average of 100, adjusted to the player's ballpark
sOPS+: OPS for the split (in our case the last 7 days) compared to the league's split OPS (100 being average).
BAbip: Batting average on balls in play.
WHIP: Walks plus hits divided by innings pitched.
ERA+: ERA compared to league average of 100, adjusted to the player's ballpark
FIP: Fielding Independent Pitching. Measures a pitcher's effectiveness at presenting home runs, walks and hit by pitches while causing strikeouts. The MLB average FIP is the same as the MLB average ERA.
WAR: Wins Above Replacement value. Represents the number of wins the player added to the team above what a replacement player would add (we are using WAR from baseball-reference.com).
