Young Bucks Tracker: Jan. 7 edition

Published Jan. 7, 2016 12:15 p.m. ET

With two-thirds of the roster born after 1990, the Milwaukee Bucks are a young, growing team. Every Thursday for the rest of the season, FOX Sports Wisconsin will take a closer look at the players that are still in their first three NBA seasons, measuring, highlighting and evaluating their progress.

This is the eighth edition of the 2015-16 Young Bucks Tracker.

A glossary of the advanced statistics used for season totals:

PER -- Player Efficiency Rating: A measure of per-minute production standardized such that the league average is 15.

TS% -- True Shooting Percentage: A measure of shooting efficiency that takes into account 2-point field goals, 3-point field goals, and free throws.

USG% -- Usage Percentage: An estimate of the percentage of team plays used by a player while he was on the floor.

ORtg -- Offensive Rating: An estimate of points produced per 100 possessions.

DRtg -- Defensive Rating: An estimate of points allowed per 100 possessions.

VORP -- Value over Replacement Player: A box score estimate of the points per 100 TEAM possessions that a player contributed above a replacement-level (-2.0) player, translated to an average team and prorated to an 82-game season.

GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO (Age 21, third season)

Statistical season averages (last week): 15.4 points (13.5), 6.7 rebounds (6.5), 2.7 assists (1.0), 1.0 steals (2.5), 1.1 blocks (0.5), 33.7 minutes (33.5), 50.2 FG% (43.5), 25.0 3PT% (12.5).

Advanced stats, season: 16.5 PER, 56.7 percent TS%, 21.4 percent USG%, 106 ORtg, 108 DRtg, 0.7 VORP.

Notable: Maybe Antetokounmpo is starting to find his groove again? He was fairly consistent in both scoring (14-11-11-18) and rebounding (6-9-4-7) this past week. Now let's see if he can keep it up.

MICHAEL CARTER-WILLIAMS (Age 24, third season)

Statistical season averages (last week): 12.3 points (13.0), 4.5 rebounds (5.3), 5.7 assists (8.0), 1.4 steals (2.0), 0.7 blocks (1.8), 30.4 minutes (35.5), 46.5 FG% (50.0), 34.6 3PT% (1.000).

Advanced stats, season: 15.4 PER, 50.7 percent TS%, 22.2 percent USG%, 98 ORtg, 109 DRtg, 0.3 VORP.

Notable: The thing about Carter-Williams is he can do so many things well. Score? He put up games of 16 and 20 last week. Rebounds? How about a pair of seven-board games. Assists? As a point guard, of course, and he averaged eight per contest last week including 12 at Chicago. Blocks? Yup, he had three in two separate games. The pitfalls with MCW have been shooting and turnovers. Yet last week, he only had seven turnovers (and four of those were in one game) despite averaging over 35 minutes per game. He also shot 50 percent from the field -- which is also his field-goal percentage over the last 17 games, since Dec. 5.

TYLER ENNIS (Age 21, second season)

Statistical season averages (last week): 3.7 points (0.0), 1.2 rebounds (0.0), 1.0 assists (2.0), 0.3 steals (0.0), 0.1 blocks (0.0), 10.5 minutes (5.0), 44.9 FG% (0.0), 36.4 3PT% (n/a).

Advanced stats, season: 9.3 PER, 51.5 percent TS%, 18.8 percent USG%, 94 ORtg, 113 DRtg, -0.2 VORP.

Notable: The DNP-CDs keep racking up as Ennis played only five minutes in a blowout loss to San Antonio. He's still serving as point guard insurance due to injuries, so expect him to remain on the NBA roster for the time being.

DAMIEN INGLIS (Age 20, first season)

Statistical season averages (last week): 1.1 points (n/a) 1.1 rebounds (n/a), 0.3 assists (n/a), 0.3 steals (n/a), 0.0 blocks (n/a), 5.6 minutes (n/a), 25.0 FG% (n/a), 20.0 3PT% (n/a).

Advanced stats, season: 2.6 PER, 41.0 percent TS%, 16.1 percent USG%, 70 ORtg, 105 DRtg, -0.1 VORP.

Notable: Inglis now hasn't played since Dec. 23. Chris Copeland, who also hadn't played since then, saw time versus San Antonio instead of Inglis, who was inactive for that game and six of the last seven.

JOHNNY O'BRYANT (Age 22, second season)

Statistical season averages (last week): 3.7 points (4.3), 3.1 rebounds (1.7), 0.7 assists (0.0), 0.4 steals (1.0), 0.1 blocks (0.0), 14.9 minutes (10.7), 44.3 FG% (60.0), 1.000 3PT% (n/a).

Advanced stats, season: 9.3 PER, 47.4 percent TS%, 13.7 percent USG%, 101 ORtg, 111 DRtg, -0.3 VORP.

Notable: It was a strange week for O'Bryant who went from not playing to playing five minutes then seven minutes and finally over 19 minutes against the Bulls. We'll have to see next week which was the anomaly.

JABARI PARKER (Age 20, second season)

Statistical season averages (last week): 10.8 points (12.8), 4.4 rebounds (6.0), 1.2 assists (1.3), 0.6 steals (0.3), 0.4 blocks (0.3), 26.3 minutes (32.8), 46.1 FG% (48.8), 0.0 3PT% (0.0).

Advanced stats, season: 13.9 PER, 50.8 percent TS%, 19.7 percent USG%, 106 ORtg, 112 DRtg, -0.4 VORP.

Notable: Last week we mentioned how Parker was in a slump. No more. He shook scoring in single digits in four out of five games to post in double figures in each of Milwaukee's four games last week. He also had some solid rebounding games (6, 8 and 7), shot decent from the field and made 9 of 10 free throws.

RASHAD VAUGHN (Age 19, first season)

Statistical season averages (last week): 2.0 points (4.0), 1.2 rebounds (1.8), 0.4 assists (0.5), 0.2 steals (0.0), 0.1 blocks (0.0), 9.6 minutes (11.3), 28.8 FG% (37.5), 35.1 3PT% (25.0).

Advanced stats, season: 3.2 PER, 39.5 percent TS%, 14.7 percent USG%, 75 ORtg, 112 DRtg, -0.4 VORP.

Notable: The up-and-down season -- at least in terms of playing time -- continues for Vaughn. He got a chance to see minutes against Minnesota after O.J. Mayo was ejected and did OK in his time. Then he played over 16 minutes in a loss to the Spurs  . . . to be followed by a six-minute game at Chicago (in which he didn't even take one shot). The learning continues.
