After Trump's election, USA, Mexico players display unity with pregame photo
Prior to the U.S. men's national team's World Cup qualifying loss to Mexico, the two sides posed together for a picture, one that carried a considerable amount of weight given the events in America this week.
Donald Trump's victory in the presidential election has brought USA-Mexico relations further into the spotlight, given his claims that he's going to build a wall between the two nations and his derogatory generalizations about Mexicans and Mexican-Americans made during his campaign. Any worries that the vitriol and deplorable acts that have taken place in the U.S. since the election would spill over into the USA-Mexico match were allayed with the players' pregame unity, which followed a pair of national anthems that were met with the standard level of respect.
The night in Columbus transpired without incident and largely without reference to the election, save for one made after Mexico's 2-1 victory.

The win for Mexico was its first in five World Cup qualifying tries in Columbus dating back to 2001. El Tri travels to Panama on Tuesday looking to go to six points in the CONCACAF Hexagonal, while the USA has the tough task of going to Costa Rica, where it has never won a qualifier (0-8-1).
