Andres Iniesta stretchered off pitch as Barcelona fear major injury
Andres Iniesta injured his knee on a nasty tackle in Barcelona's 3-2 win over Valencia and had to be stretchered off the pitch. Now the Catalans are left to wait on the scans to determine the severity of the injury, but the the tears on Iniesta's face while being stretchered off hinted at something serious.
Iniesta was caught in a tackle by Enzo Perez. The Valencia man was not punished at all for the challenge, leaving Barcelona boss Luis Enrique enraged.
It was clear from the start that Iniesta was in serious pain. He grabbed his knee and the trainers got to him quickly. After being treated on the pitch for several minutes by the trainers, Iniesta was taken off.
Barcelona refused to speculate on the severity of Iniesta's injury, simply issuing a statement about his upcoming scans.
"When he arrives in Barcelona the player will have more tests to find out the exact extent of the injury," the club said.
Barcelona are already dealing with a slew of injuries. Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba are out for several weeks, while Arda Turan and Rafinha missed the trip to Valencia with knocks. Now they add Iniesta to the injury list and there is a possibility he will be out for quite some time.
