Angel Di Maria almost retired from Argentina's national team after Copa America

Argentina's heartbreaking loss to Chile in the Copa America final really hit hard. It was the third straight final loss in three years, and again to growing nemesis Chile. Lionel Messi retired from international football after the tournament, and Angel Di Maria revealed that he nearly did the same.

Speaking to Tyc Sports, the Argentine winger talked about how he nearly quit the national team after the Chile defeat, and also considered visiting a psychologist to help him deal with his mental struggles:

It wasn't just the defeats that got to Di Maria though. His repeated injury issues also affected him severely, but it was his family that brought him back to the light, and helped him get back into a positive mindset:

Angel Maria didn't end up retiring, and Leo Messi came back, so all's well that ends well, right? Di Maria is part of Edgardo Bauza's Argentina side that will take on Peru and Paraguay in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
