Arsenal's bad day gets worse as Alexis Sanchez, Petr Cech are hurt

Arsenal's day was pretty terrible based on scoreline alone. The Gunners lost to West Brom, 3-1, and are five points back of fourth place Liverpool with just one match in hand. Now, they're may have to make up that gap without Alexis Sanchez and Petr Cech, who were both hurt in the loss.

Alexis scored the Gunners' lone goal in the match, but was injured on a James McClean tackle. He tried to play on, but Arsene Wenger eventually had to substitute him and the Arsenal manager said "his ankle doesn't look good."

"He stayed on but in the second half he was not himself," Wenger said. "He just limped so I decided to take him off. And his ankle doesn't look good.

"He was injured from the tackle in the first half. It was a bad tackle. His ankle is in an absolutely terrible state."

Alexis has been Arsenal's best player this season with 18 goals, 10 more than anyone else on the team. Having to play any stretch without him would be a big blow to the Gunners, but having to do so now, when they've lost four of five in the league to fall out of the top four, would be disastrous.

Meanwhile, Cech was also hurt. The goalkeeper made a basic pass, but then went down to the ground in pain. He was immediately substituted off.

The good news for Arsenal is it's not the international break, giving both players two weeks before their next match. But Arsenal need Alexis for sure, and are better off with Cech than Ospina, so they're hoping the duo isn't out too long. Enough is going sour for the Gunners as is.
