Ashley Williams feeling revitalised
Ashley Williams is a much-needed addition to the Everton back four. Even at 32, the Welsh international is still looking to the future and isn’t looking to stop anytime soon.
His move to Goodison Park this summer closed a chapter with Swansea City where Williams gained two promotions as captain.
Williams has played in a number of divisions but has found his feet in the Premier League. Yes, he’s learned quite a bit through his years, but he can learn even more under Ronald Koeman.
Speaking during the international break, Williams said: “There is not one thing specifically but I am enjoying playing underneath him (Koeman). I am going to be a sponge to learn off him and try to take in as much as I can of his knowledge.”
Koeman is respected throughout the footballing world as one of the best central defenders to ever play and he still has things to teach.
Williams is yet to make his full Premier League debut for Everton but could be in line to start against Sunderland on Monday night.
The Welsh captain has been looking to get fit and ready after a long summer break. He said: “I’ve had two 90 minutes and training is pretty intense up there as well so I feel fine and ready.”

Everton’s newest centre back also said he has no plans to retire from international football. Rumours started that Williams could be set to retire as the international break began. He said: “I feel OK, I feel good, I am enjoying it and have no immediate plans for that (Retirement).”
Williams and Everton have their ambitions high this season, looking to improve on recent Premier League finishes of 11th place.
The Blues were unable to add another centre-back this summer as they targeted Lamine Kone from Sunderland. Koeman has shown the preference to play with three centre-backs and Kone would have fit that system perfectly.
