Barca will 'not contemplate' the sale of Brazil star Neymar

A senior Barcelona figure says the club will "not contemplate" the sale of Brazil international Neymar.

Barcelona are confident of agreeing a new contract with Neymar - whose current deal expires in 2018 - and, speaking in June, Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez said the Brazil captain would be staying at the club.

The 24-year-old joined Barca in 2013 and has won two La Liga titles, a Champions League and two Copa del Rey trophies while at the club.

He has also formed part of the famous MSN partnership - alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez - scoring 131 goals this season as Barcelona won the Spanish league and cup double.

While the ongoing contract negotiations may be frustrating for fans, Barcelona financial vice-president Susana Monje is not worried and says the club have not considered the sale of Neymar.

"Neymar's [contract] renewal is a sporting matter," Monje said in a news conference.

"Economically, you have already known the margins for a while. We have not studied the impact of a hypothetical loss of Neymar. We do not contemplate it."
