Barcelona rule out summer move for Juventus midfielder Pogba

Barcelona will not sign Paul Pogba this calendar year - but have refused to rule out a move for the Juventus midfielder in 2016.

The Champions League winners, who beat Pogba's Juve in the final last month, are keen to lure the 22-year-old France international to Camp Nou but saw an 80million euros ($88m) offer for the midfielder turned down last week.

Barcelona sealed a $37.34m deal for Arda Turan on Monday and the deal for the Atletico Madrid playmaker means they're now likely to shelve their interest in Pogba.

Barca were expected to launch an improved bid for the France star but president Josep Bartomeu insists any deal for Pogba is now on hold until January next year at the earliest.

"We will not buy Pogba this year," the current Barcelona president told reporters.

"We are not planning with him for next season. He is not part of our sporting plans for 2015-16 at this stage."

Juventus are reluctant to sell the former Man United academy graduate, but news that Barcelona are out of contention for now could give fellow suitors Manchester City renewed hope of sealing a deal. City are reportedly prepared to meet Juve's 100million euros ($110m) asking price for Pogba.
