Bas Dost scores hat trick as Sporting thrashes Chaves 5-1

LISBON, Portugal (AP) Sporting Lisbon striker Bas Dost scored a hat trick in a 5-1 rout of Chaves in the Portuguese league on Sunday.

Marcos Acuna added two goals to keep Sporting in the title chase.

Dost opened the scoring in the sixth minute by heading in Bruno Fernandes' pass.

The Dutch striker added another headed goal off a cross by Daniel Podence in the 15th.

After Dost set up Acuna's second goal, he rounded off the win in the 75th.

Davidson got Chaves' consolation in injury time.

Benfica won 3-1 at Desportivo Aves thanks to two converted penalties by Jonas and a goal from Haris Seferovic.

Porto leads the league with Sporting two points behind. Benfica trails Porto by five points in third place.
