Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal looking for revenge against Atletico Madrid.

The Spanish side knocked out Bayern in the semifinal on away goals last season. The two sides now meet in group stages with first fixture being played on Wednesday at Vicente Calderon.

The Chilean midfielder joined Bayern Munich last summer from Juventus. He was part of the team that faced Atletico on course of two legs. The Germans won 2-1 at Allainz Arena but failed to qualify as Atletico had edged a 1-0 win at Vicente Calderon.

Vidal believes that the German Champions will be looking to get better of the Spaniards this time around. He praised Atletico for their last season’s heroics. He further added that Bayern Munich will be well prepared this time to face Simeone’s men.

“We have to eradicate the pain of that defeat.”

“We badly wanted to reach the final, but Atletico were more efficient in front of goal. We have plenty to rectify.”

Vidal won Bundesliga in his first season at Bayern Munich. The Chilean midfielder has enjoyed success at club and country level. He aims to add the Champions League trophy to his cabinet. The midfielder was on the losing side when he faced Barcelona in the finals two years ago. He is looking forward to make amendments by winning it this year with Bayern Munich.

Carlo Ancelloti has made a perfect start as a new manager at Bayern. The Italian has won all the eight competitive games till now. Despite the start Vidal has warned that good start will mean nothing if the club fail to win trophies at the end of the season.

“It’s all about collecting the three titles [Bundesliga, DFB Pokal, Champions League] at the end of the season.”

Atletico Madrid have recovered from a poor start to this campaign. Ancelloti will face his first big tactical battle as a Bayern manager. Vidal could be key for Ancelloti as the Chilean pops up with important goals and provides steel to the midfield.
