Benteke agent denies Manchester United interest in striker
Christian Benteke's agent has insisted there is no truth in reports linking the Aston Villa striker to Premier League rivals Manchester United.
The Daily Mail reported on Wednesday that the Red Devils had joined bitter Premier League rivals Liverpool in pursuit of the Aston Villa striker, who has a £32.5million release clause in his contract.
Villa boss Tim Sherwood appeared unconcerned over Benteke's future on Tuesday, saying: "I think he stays," when asked about his star man.
But with United having sealed moves for Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin, Matteo Darmian and Memphis Depay this summer, the Mail claimed their next target would be 6ft 3 striker Benteke.
However, when asked by Sport Witness of United's supposed interest, the 24-year-old's agent, Eris Kismet, insisted the claims were "not true at all".
Benteke scored 15 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions for Sherwood's men last season, and his haul of 42 goals in 88 Premier League games over three seasons has seen him become one of the league's leading strikers.
