Celtic's love affair with Brendan Rodgers is already in full swing

One man's trash is another man's treasure, the old adage goes.

That seems to be true for Brendan Rodgers, his new club Celtic and the team that canned him in October, Liverpool.

Seven months after his unceremonious exit at Anfield, where he was blamed for any and all of the Reds' problems since nearly leading them to the Premier League title in 2013, Rodgers was introduced to a crowd of over 10,000 frenzied fans at Celtic Park on Monday.

Yes, ten thousand fans! For a manager. Some even busted out the pyrotechnics as the new partnership already looks like a match made in heaven.

The Northern Irish-born Rodgers already won unlimited brownie points by declaring himself a lifelong Celtic fan, and on Monday revealed that his family was reduced to tears once they found out he was named Tommy Burns' successor.

"For a team I have supported all my life, to be sat here as manager is a very humbling experience and I'm very privileged to be here," Rodgers told the Daily Record. "It has been very emotional. I had brothers and uncles crying, as for them was something they hoped they could see."

Rodgers dismissing any talk that a move to Parkhead could be seen as a "step down" in his managerial career was only more music to Celtic fans' ears.

"I know people talk about the level of Scottish football, but Celtic is one of the biggest clubs in the world, it is certainly not a step down, it is an institution."

How long the "Rodgers Revolution" at Celtic will last remains to be seen, as the 43-year-old only signed a rolling 12-month contract with the club. Regarldess, given that success should be much easier to come by with the five-time defending Scottish champions than it was in the Premier League, Rodgers' reputation and relationship with the fans --€“ barring a complete disaster -- will be much rosier than it was in Merseyside.
