Chicharito could play for Mexico vs. T&T, but two El Tri players ruled out
Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez is still in contention to play for Mexico against Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday. The striker came out of El Tri's win over Costa Rica on Friday with a thigh injury, but is recovering well.
Having Chicharito availability would be a big boost to Mexico. They have plenty of capable strikers, but Chicharito is in terrific form. He also just tied Jared Borgetti as Mexico's all-time top scorer and it'd be terrific to see him get a chance of taking the record for himself on Tuesday.
It's not all good injury news for Mexico, though. Rafa Marquez or Jurgen Damm have both been sent back to their clubs and will not make the trip to T&T.
Marquez hurt his back in Friday's win and while the injury isn't considered overly serious, he's out for Tuesday's contest. Considering that backs can be tricky and Marquez is 38 years old, caution is probably the best approach. Damm also has a relatively minor injury, but Mexico decided to proceed without him.
Juan Carlos Osorio has decided not to call in any replacements for Marquez and Damm so he'll have just 22 players available to him against Trinidad and Tobago. Considering Mexico are already top of the Hex and unquestionably the most talented team in the region, they should be fine even without Marquez and Damm.
