Dempsey has been cleared to return to training, to exercise, but he’s not been medically cleared to play yet. When Clint feels better and the doctors consider it safe, then we will consider his return to play.
Clint has seemed really positive and cheerful. He’s been out here jogging and working, and he has a good attitude about it. Having watched interactions out on the field today, Clint’s return was really positive and happy for the rest of the players.
Since Dempsey’s condition was announced, the Sounders have not won a game, going 0-1-2 and falling back down to 9th place in the Western Conference.
Before getting injured, Dempsey was vital in the resurgence of the Sounders. In the 3 games before his absence, he scored 5 goals and picked up 1 assist, putting him at 8 goals and 2 assists on the season. If Dempsey can return before the end of the 2016 season, Seattle will gain a huge boost in their playoff hunt.
