Cristiano Ronaldo becomes first player to play in three Euro semifinals
Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first player to ever play in three UEFA Euro semifinals as he continues to rack up tournament records.
Ronaldo already became the first player to score in four Euros when he netted earlier in the tournament and, with eight career goals at the European Championships, can tie Michel Platini as the competition's all-time leading scorer with one more tally.
The Portuguese star made it to the final at his first Euros, when he was just a teenager in 2004. Ronaldo scored in Portugal's semifinal win over the Netherlands, his first trip to the final four. Four years ago, he was back in the semifinals, but it didn't go as well for Portugal as they went out to Spain in penalty kicks. Now Portugal are back in the semis, taking on Wales and Ronaldo is back on the pitch.
This could be Ronaldo's final Euros -- he will be 35 years old by the 2020 tournament -- but he already has made history twice over. And he has a chance to make even more before things wrap up in France.
