Dallas and New England Clash in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Final
FC Dallas hosts the New England Revolution in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Final.
In a replay of the 2007 US Open Cup final, FC Dallas and the New England Revolution both look to add to their trophy case, which currently only holds one US Open Cup trophy each.
FC Dallas, on paper, are the huge favorites in this competition. In last weekend’s loss to the Colorado Rapids, head coach Oscar Pareja made some rotations to rest some players ahead of tonight’s final. This means that the likes of Mauro Díaz and Michael Barrios will be as ready as ever to take on the Revolution. New England head coach Jay Heaps, however, used practically a first choice starting eleven in their 3-1 win over NYCFC.
FC Dallas has the first opportunity since the 2014 Seattle Sounders season to win the first ever MLS treble, consisting of the MLS Cup, Supporters’ Shield and the USOC.
The 103rd US Open Cup will be televised on ESPN2 tonight with kickoff at 10pm ET and 7pm PST. This will be the first time the Cup will be nationally televised, bringing in its biggest audience to date.
